Foreigners are required by Thai Immigration law, to enter the Kingdom on a visa (tourist visa for 60 days or non-immigrant visa for 90 days). The visa is issued by a Thai Embassy or Consulate outside of Thailand. After you arrive in Thailand, you can request for additional time for your stay from the Immigration office . 30 days for Tourist Visa and 7 days for Non-Immigrant Visa.

If you want to aply for a long term stay. It can be an extension of stay for one year. In your native country you can apply for a type O visa on account of: Marriage, Business, Education or Retirement in Thailand.
